BUFFALO WILD WING STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK –Kristina Ford, Women’s Basketball
Iona College women’s basketball senior Kristina Ford was named Buffalo Wild Wings Student-Athlete of the Week after recording her second MAAC Player of the Week Award of the season. Ford began the 2011-12 season winning the first award opened up her 2011-12 season with a dynamic 34 point effort in the Gaels' 85-69 win over North Carolina A&T. Ford set a new career high in point and field goals in the contest, while also leading the Gaels with six rebounds. In the game, she also became the 22nd player in Iona history to eclipse the 1,000 career point mark. Ford led the Gaels with 12 points in 34 minutes of play in the squad's 76-47 loss to Villanova.
Last week, Ford averaged a double-double for the Gaels this week, averaging 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest, including 85.7% (12-14) from the foul line and 45.5% (5-11) from behind the three-point arc. Against Marist, Ford scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds for the contest. Against Saint Peter's, Ford scored 23 points and grabbed 14 boards, including six on the offensive glass, for her fifth double-double of the season.
