MAAC-to-MAAC Champs! WWP tops Wagner 10-9 in OT

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Junior Alyssa Turza was named Most Outstanding Performer after scoring four goals in the top-seeded Iona College women's water polo team's 10-9 overtime victory over third-seeded Wagner College in the 2012 MAAC Women's Water Polo Championship Game, Sunday afternooon at the McCann Natatorium.

Senior Cecilia Leonard scored three goals for the Gaels while senior Mackenzie Mone, freshman Katie Stelnicki and sophomore Erika Lauraitis each added one goal for the Maroon and Gold.

Joining Turza on the All-Tournament Team are teammates Leonard and sophomore Marisa Gaynor, along with Chelsea Beck and Lauren French from Wagner, Kelly Kline from Marist and Hannah Ishida from Villanova.

Iona receives the MAAC's automatic berth to the 2012 NCAA Water Polo Championship, which will take place on May 11-13 at the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego, CA.  The Gaels will find out their opening round opponent, and seeding, Monday evening during the Women's Water Polo Selection Show at 8:00 pm ET.
