Eleven of Iona College's varsity athletics programs are in action on Saturday, Apr. 14. Fans can follow most of the action on @ICGaels twitter account. Here's the rundown:
HOME EVENTS:
Baseball hosts Niagara in a doubleheader that starts at noon at Salesian Field. The Gaels and Purple Eagles battle in a three-game series this weekend which could prove pivotal for both teams in their MAAC Championship contention. Men's soccer plays a spring game during their non-traditional season at Mazzella Field. The Gaels host MAAC-rival Marist and Mercy College at 1:00 pm. Campus will be alive as the college welcomes the Class of 2016 on Campus Day this weekend.
In addition to the two varsity home events, the rugby club program hosts St. Bonaventure in the second Empire Rugby Conference semifinal matchup at 4:00 pm at Mazzella Field. The winner faces either the first semifinal winner on Sunday - Stony Brook or Binghamton which takes place on campus at 10:00 am.

ON THE ROAD:
Lacrosse looks to improve to 3-1 in conference play and vie for a program record ninth overall win when it travels to Siena. The Gaels look to hold on to their second place standing when they take on the 2-2 Saints in Loudonville at noon.
The two-time defending MAAC Champion softball team looks returns to conference play at Niagara looking to remain unbeaten on the season. The 2-0 Gaels face the Purple Eagles who host their MAAC opener Saturday. First pitch in the doubleheader is slated for 10:00 am. The squad continues action on Sunday against fellow unbeaten Canisius at Noon.
Women's Water Polo takes on a pair of MAAC opponents at Villanova University. The Gaels (7-1 MAAC) take on the host Wildcats (3-5) at 10:00 and St. Francis (NY) (3-6) at 4:00 pm in the Philadelphia suburbs. Iona completes the regular season Sunday at Villanova when they take on MAAC newcomer VMI (0-9) to begin the day at 9:00 am before finishing off with Wagner (8-1) at 1:30 pm in a game that will likely determine the 2012 MAAC regular season champion.

The men’s and women’s rowing teams are both in action at the 2012 Knecht Cup both Saturday and Sunday. The Villanova University hosted event takes place on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, NJ and begins at 7:00 am.

Men’s and women’s outdoor track competes at the 2012 New York Metropolitan Championships. The meet his hosted by the University of Rutgers in Piscataway, NJ. The day’s events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
Like their men’s soccer fall counterparts, the women’s soccer and volleyball programs compete in their non-traditional spring campaigns. Women’s soccer is at Columbia on the Upper West Side of Manhattan while volleyball travels to Long Island in a tournament at Hofstra.
In addition, men's basketball senior Mike Glover completes action at the prestigious 2012 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. Check out portsmouthinvitational.com for more information as the start time for his Portsmouth Sports Club team will be determined by Friday night's results.
