STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alicja Pawelec, Volleyball

Freshman OH Alicja Pawelec had 21 kills in the Gaels 1-1 week vs. Marist and Manhattan at home. She posted 14 in the Gaels' win over the Lady Jaspers hitting .333 for the match. Pawelec's stretch of nine kills in 13 attempts (.692 hitting percentage) in the middle two sets sparked Iona in its victory. She added five digs and two blocks in the win.

The Gaels continue a four-match homestand next weekend when they host Rider and Fairfield at the Hynes Center on Saturday (Oct. 2) and Sunday (Oct. 3). Both matches are slated for 2:00 pm.
