PRINCETON, NJ - Iona College women's outdoor track senior Heidi Gregson broke the school record in the 800-meter run at the 2012 ECAC Championships at Princeton University.
Gregson's time of 2:06.74 was good for second in her heat and seventh overall in the 800m preliminary rounds. She qualified for the final but did not compete as she looks forward to the NCAA Championship first round in two weeks.
Gregson topped McKayla Plank's school record time of 2:07.07 set on the same track in 2007. Gregson's previous personal best time was 2:07.10 from the Colonial Relays in 2010. Her top time in 2011 came at the ECAC Championships, just over a second behind her new standard.
Sophomore Katie Niblock also competed at ECACs, running a 4:32.08 in the 1500-meter preliminary heats. Niblock was seventh in her heat and 15th overall in the race.
