TERRE HAUTE, IN - Iona College women's cross country graduate student Hollie Rowland finished 58th at the 2011 NCAA Championship as the lone representative of the Gaels at the LaVern Gibson Championship XC Course.
The 2011 MAAC Champion and All-Northeast Region performer capped a highly successful inaugural campaign in Maroon & Gold with a 20:41.8
time in the 6k race.
It was the highest finish by an Iona women's cross country performer since McKayla Plank (18th) and Salome Kosegei (42nd) finished in the Top 50 for the Gaels in 2006. Anna Holm-Jorgensen was the last to compete, finishing 132nd in 2009.
Iona completed a successful 2011 campaign with its seventh straight MAAC Championship in October, extending the nation's longest active streak. Two weeks later the squad finished eighth at NCAA Northeast Regionals.
