NEW ORLEANS, LA - Four student-athletes from the Iona College women's track and field program were named to the 2012 USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic team. In addition, the team recognized as one of 171 institutions on the USTFCCA All-Academic Team list.
Graduate Heidi Gregson, graduate student Hollie Rowland, rising senior Marion Joly-Testault and rising sophomore Regina Neumeyer were recognized for both their academic and athletic performances during the 2011-12 indoor and outdoor track seasons.
A total of 676 student-athletes representing 171 institutions compose the group. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
The Iona quartet was the lone Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's representatives on the list.
As a team, the Gaels were one of 171 institutions to earn the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better. Iona's 3.46 GPA ranked 10th among the teams honored.
