EAST LANSING, MI - The Iona College golf team opened its fall 2010 slate Saturday with its first round Saturday at The Fossum Invitational. The Gaels were able to complete one round as the second round was postponed due to weather. The remainder of the second round will be made up Sunday and the tournament will be shortened to 36 holes. After the initial 18 holes, the Gaels sit in 14th place after shooting a 37-over 325.

Sophomore Doug Hoppe is tied for 15th after shooting a four-over 76. Sophomore Dylan Newman is tied for 40th after shooting a seven-over 79. Next for the Gaels is junior Andrew Shortall who is currently tied for 72nd after shooting an 11-over 83. Senior Jordan Lesansky is tied for 79th after registering a 15-over 87 in round one. Rounding out the Iona golfers is sophomore Andrew Graham, who is 82nd after opening with a 16-over 88.

The second round will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.
