FARMINGDALE, NY - The Iona College golf team completed the third and final round of the McLaughlin by posting a score of 290 (+10). Overall, the squad finished the two day tournament with a score of 869 (+29), tying for 13th with Loyola University Maryland. The University of West Florida took first with a score of 838 (-2).
The Gaels' top finisher was sophomore Dylan Newman, who tied with four other golfers for seventh with a three round score of 209 (-1). Newman finished the weekend up with a four-under 66, tying for the lowest round of the day. Next for Iona was sophomore Andrew Graham, who tied for 44th with a score of 218 (+8). Graham shot a six-over 76 in the final round. Junior Andrew Shortall shot a four-over 74 in round three to finish up the weekend with a score of 220 (+10), tying for 54th. Senior Jordan Lesansky shot a four-over 74 on Saturday to finish with a final score of 224 (+14), tying for 69th. Sophomore Doug Hoppe shot a nine-over 79 in the final round to close out the tournament with a 235 (+25), tying for 77th.
The Gaels are back in action on Sept. 27 at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
