Iona College junior Andrew Graham will represent the Gaels next week at the U.S. Amateur Championship in Erin Hills. Graham earned entrance into the Championship after winning a qualifiying tournament at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, NY on August 3.
Hosted by the Erin Hills golf course in Erin, Wisconsin, the U.S. Amateur Championship has been played since 1895 and has been won by some of the greatest golfers of all time. In the past, eleven players have won both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open Championships.
Graham will begin play next week, teeing off for the first round of play at 7:20 am on Monday. His second round tee time is scheduled for 12:35 pm Tuesday.
A season ago, Graham played in all nine tournaments for the Gaels during the fall and spring seasons. His best finish was a second-place tie at the Peacock Invitational on Apr. 26. He finished the season off with a seventh place tie at the MAAC Championship, where the Gaels tied for second, their best team finish since 2003.
