NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Six members of the Iona College men's soccer team were named to the 2011 NCAA Men's Division All-North Atlantic Team, as selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Gaels led all teams in the country with their six honorees.
Named to the First Team was freshman goalkeeper Borja Barbero, sophomore midfielder Franklin Castellanos, sophomore forward Samuel Adjei and junior forward Ansger Otto. Named to the Second Team was junior defender Robbie Krohmer while freshman forward Ignacio Maganto earned Third Team recognition.

"This honor proves that we have a great future ahead of us with all six performers returning for next season," said head coach Fernando Barboto. "It's a tremendous honor to be recognized for our perforance this year."
Barbero started all 20 games for the Gaels this season, allowing 19 goals for an impressive goals against average of 0.91. He recorded 62 saves and four shutouts in his rookie season, earning MAAC All-Rookie honors and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the MAAC Championship.
Castellanos appeared in 19 games for the Maroon & Gold, leading the Gaels in points with 20 (3g, 14a). His 14 assists were the most in the country as was his 0.74 assists per game average while earning All-MAAC First Team honors this season.
Adjei earned All-MAAC First Team honors after contributing 19 points on six goals and seven assists in his second season with the Gaels. He had three game winners this season and a team high 27 shots on goal.
Otto appeared in all 20 games for Iona, leading the Gaels with seven goals, including three game winners en route to an All-MAAC First Team selection.
Krohmer earned All-MAAC First Team honors and an All-Tournament Team selection at the MAAC Championship. In 15 games this season, Krohmer helped anchor an Iona defense that allowed only 19 goals this season in 20 games.
In 20 games this season, Maganto scored six goals and picked up four assists in his first season with the Gaels. Maganto earned All-MAAC Second and Rookie Team honors as the Gaels earned their third straight berth into the MAAC Championship.
