EDISON, NJ - Iona College baseball senior C/OF James Beck was named MAAC Player of the Week for his performance in Iona's 3-1 week vs. New York Tech and Fairfield. Beck earns his first ever MAAC weekly award and the Gaels' second straight after teammate Chris Burke earned the honor last week.

Beck posted tremendous offensive numbers in leading the Maroon & Gold. He batted .625 with 10 hits in 16 at bats. Beck scored four runs and drove in eight. With three doubles and a home run, he slugged 1.000 and with two walks, his on pace percentage jumped to .632. Beck also stole a base and was perfect on 14 chances on defense, splitting time between left field and catcher. He had multiple hits and multiple runs batted in in three of the four contests last week including a four RBI effort at New York Tech on Thursday and a four hit effort in the series finale vs. Fairfield on Saturday.

The Gaels are in action tomorrow (Mar. 27) at Rhode Island and Wednesday (Mar. 28) at Sacred Heart before returning to MAAC play this weekend (Mar. 31-Apr. 1) at Manhattan. The five contests are the start of a 10-game road trip for Iona.
