Former Iona College baseball standout and current St. Louis Cardinals closer Jason Motte took the time to speak with ICGaels.com and Iona Mass Comm.
Motte - who closed out the deciding game in the 2011 World Series for the Cardinals - is in his fourth season in major leagues after being selected in the 19th round of the 2003 MLB First Year Player Draft. The Gaels' first World Series champion spoke with Iona Mass Comm media director Mike Damergis prior to the Cardinals series opener with the New York Mets at Citi Field on Friday, June 1. Motte appeared in two contests on the weekend tossing two scoreless innings. He matched his career-high with his ninth save of the season in Monday afternoon's finale.
