YAPHANK, NY - The Iona College baseball team erased a 3-0 first inning deficit in a 10-4 victory vs. Stony Brook in non-conference action at Baseball Heaven. The Gaels (9-17) did most of their damage in a four-run fourth inning against the Seawolves.

Iona sophomore RHP Matt Marley settled down after a rocky first frame to pitch 7.1 innings allowing four runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and earned his first win of the season. Senior RHP Sean Darsee tossed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Gaels bats pounded out 10 runs on 12 hits against the Seawolves (16-7). Junior 3B Chris Burke and sophomore LF Kyle Charron had a second-straight strong effort at the plate with two hits a piece including a home run. Burke drove in three runs, scored twice and doubled in the game. Senior DH Nick Rossetti was 2-for-5 with a walk. Like Charron, he scored two runs and had two RBI in the win. Senior C Chris Griffin also posted two hits for the Gaels.

Stony Brook used nine pitchers in the mid-week, non-conference tilt. Four Seawolves had two hits apiece to account for the home team's 10 on the day.

The Maroon & Gold are back in action this weekend when they return to Salesian Field to face MAAC rival Siena in a three-game series. The Gaels and Saints square off in the opener of a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon in New Rochelle.
