EDISON, NJ - Iona College volleyball senior libero Allison Nieters earned her third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week award for her performance at vs. Siena and at Manhattan last weekend. The two-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and 2009 Libero of the Year earned the honor for the 15th time in her career.

Nieters posted 51 digs in the two matches including 24 in three sets vs. the Saints on Saturday and 27 vs. the Lady Jaspers on Sunday.  She also had just one error in 54 service receptions (98.1%).

With the dig total, Nieters climbed to No. 7 on the NCAA's All-Time Dig list. She is 32 digs shy of the 2,500 mark.

Iona stands in a four-way tie for second place entering this weekend's contests. The Gaels take on Fairfield on Saturday and Marist on Sunday, two of the teams they are tied in the standings.
