FAIRFIELD, CT - The Iona College volleyball team suffered its second straight five-set loss this afternoon at Fairfield in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. Iona took a 2-1 lead before falling in the final two sets in the contest. Set scores were 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, and 13-15.

Sophomore OH Theresa Harvey posted 11 kills to lead the Gaels while senior MB Colleen Genett had 10. Harvey joined senior S Alyssa Erickson with a double-double, posting 10 digs in the loss. Erickson recorded 38 assists, 12 digs, five kills, four aces and three blocks in an all-around effort. Freshman OH Alicja Pawelec had nine kills and senior MB Rachel Whitten added seven.

Defensively, Genett and Whitten posted four blocks a piece. Senior libero Allison Nieters had 17 digs to lead all Iona performers. Senior DS Laura Fojanesi also recorded double-digit digs with 12.

Fairfield's Haililani Pokipala recorded 16 kills and 10 digs to lead the Stags.

Iona continues action on the road at Marist tomorrow afternoon.
