After jumping out to a 14-8 lead in the first set, the Gaels allowed the Broncs' back in the game as the visitors knotted the score at 21-21. Rider had set point at 24-22 but four straight points including two Warren kills gave Iona a 26-24 set win.

During the run, two kills apiece from Warren and senior S Nicole Tamburri sparked the home crowd and the Gaels into an eventual 25-21 set win.

In the deciding frame, Rider was first to get to eight points but after the two teams switched sides, the Gaels rattled off four straight points and held a 10-8 advantage. The lead expanded to 13-9 and Iona held off a late Rider charge to win the match 15-13 in the fifth set.
