Head coach Jon Killingbeck has announced the addition of four players to the Iona College volleyball program for the upcoming 2012 season. Joining the Gaels will be Katy Crouse, McKenzie Humann, Kiana McAuley-Pomeroy and Natalie Ziskin.
“We are bringing in four very hard working student athletes from across the nation," said Killingbeck. "As a whole this class gives us a lot of quality depth and individually, the four of them bring different aspect to our program. We are very excited to add these four to our core and hopefully have our program take that next step."
Katy Crouse is 5’10" outside hitter from Coto De Caza, CA. Katy helped lead Santa Margarita High School to the Trinity League title and to the second round of CIF this past season. She was awarded All-League honors her junior and senior year, along with an ESPN athlete of the week award in 2010. On the club side, Katy plays for TCA and has competed in the Junior Olympics the last four years. In 2009, she captured gold in the national division.
McKenzie Humann is a 6' middle blocker from Lakewood, CO. She helped lead her team to a third place finish in the state this past season and took home First Team All-Conference and All-State recognition. Currently McKenzie is playing club volleyball for the Denver volleyball club.
Kiana McAuley-Pomeroy is a 6’2" middle/right side from Bedford, MA. This year, as team captain, she helped lead Bedford High school to the state tournament. Last club season she was voted the best offensive player for her club team, the Andover Pumas.
Natalie Ziskin is a 5’8" setter from Burnt Hills, NY. This year Natalie led her team to the New York State title and earned home First-Team All-State honors, and was named the Times Union Player of the Year. She was a finalist for prep volleyball's Andi Collins Award, awarded to the best setter in the nation. Natalie plays club for the Lakeside Volleyball club.`
