Iona Men's Basketball BIO
5 Josh Gomez

First-year post performer from Rice High School in New York City's Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA)... Developing post performer with good size that will look to contribute in Iona's rotation as a freshman... Has solid skills around the basket and a decent mid-range jumper...  Working hard to improve strength and ball handling in the preseason... Iona's lone true freshman and youngest player.

Comes to the Gaels via Rice High School in New York City's CHSAA... Blossomed as a senior as the Raiders lone true post presence... Averaging just 5.5 points per game, but was a force in some of Rice's toughest games...  Posted 14 points against St. Raymond's to help lead Rice to its sixth-straight Archdiocesan AA varsity boys' basketball championship...  Also posted a double-double on the regionally televised SNY Invitational with a 14-point, 10-rebound effort in a win over eventual New York State Federation Class AA champion Mount Vernon High School... Spent the summer of 2011 in New Rochelle, enrolled in Iona’s academic sessions to get a jump start on his scholastic career as well as take advantage of the volunteer strength and conditioning program.
