Najeal Young Signs NLI To Play For Iona MBB

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College men's basketball head coach Tim Cluess announced the signing of Najeal Young to a National Letter of Intent to play basketball in New Rochelle during the NCAA's early signing period.

"We look forward to Najeal's arrival next season," said Cluess. "He is slasher/scorer with good finishing ability around the basket and will be a tremendous asset in our system."

A 6-6 left-handed wing, Young is a Milwaukee, WI native that starred for West Allis Central High School. Young was named All-State Third Team and All-Conference First Team while leading West Allis Central to its first conference title in 10 seasons. He averaged 13 points per game and was also selected to play in the Wisconsin All-Star Game.

As a freshman in 2012-13, Young appeared in 13 games for Kirkwood Community College in and averaged 10.5 points and 4.6 rebounds. He scored 10 or more points on five occasions including a season-high 26 in a loss to Indian Hills CC on Nov. 3, 2012. He also shot 10-of-11 from the field in a 22-point effort vs. Grand View University.

The Gaels graduate four seniors following the 2013-14 campaign.
