NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona College women’s basketball staff participated in the Chillin4Charity Cold Water Challenge in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Monday afternoon in front of the Hynes Athletics Center.
Chillin4Charity was recently created by the University of Arizona women’s basketball team and Head Coach Niya Butts, to raise donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The challenge was issued to the rest of the Pac-12 coaches and spread across the nation as coaches continue to challenge others.
Rules for the challenge are that all parties have 48 hours to answer the challenge. If it goes unmet then that party owes the Kay Yow Foundation $250 for head coaches and $100 for assistants. If the challenge is met then whoever issued the challenge owes the foundation $50 for head coaches and $25 for assistants.
Coach Godsey was originally challenged to take part by Georgetown assistant coach Melba Chambers. In turn Coach Godsey challenged the coaching staff at Virginia Tech, where she served on the staff for two seasons.
Coach Kelly challenged Tricia Fabbri, head coach of her alma mater Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart head coach Jessica Mannetti and Binghamton head coach Linda Cimino.
Coach Gardner challenged Seton Hall assistant coaches Stephanie Del Preore, former Iona standout Lauren DeFalco and Tiffany Jones-Smart.
Coach Leer challenged Megan Gebbia, head coach of her alma mater American University, Virgina Tech assistant coach Lisa Stack and Dartmouth head coach Belle Koclanes.
D'Angelo challenged former Iona standout Suzi Fregosi, a member of the Dowling coaching staff and Saint Peter's assistant coach Ranait Griff. Ritz challenged former Iona standout and current Felician assistant coach Joanne Smith, Texas Tech associate head coach Matt Corkery and Loyola Maryland assistant coach Jill Glessner.
