NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College women's soccer team began its 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule with a 0-0 tie against Fairfield in double overtime.  It marked the third draw in the last five meetings between the Gaels and Stags.

Rookie goalkeeper Trista Rivera made six saves in the contest to earn her third shutout of the year, guarding the net for all 110 minutes.  For Fairfield, Kelly Boudreau made seven stops in her 21st career shutout.

Senior Diane Hare and freshman Christina Tesoriero recorded three shots apiece to help lead Iona to a 21-13 shot advantage on the afternoon.  The Maroon & Gold logged 17 shots after halftime, including five in the first overtime period.  Iona also led 6-5 in corner kicks.

The Gaels continue their three-game home stand with a pair of league contests next weekend.  Iona hosts Saint Peter's at 3:00 pm on Friday (Oct. 8) and Manhattan at noon on Sunday (Oct. 10).
