Iona College baseball senior RHP Derrick Bligh was named the Buffalo Wild Wings Student-Athlete of the Week after a great MAAC relief apperance against Siena.
Bligh tossed five innings of shutout relief in two appearances last week. In Iona's 2-1 win over Siena on Friday, Bligh allowed a hit and a walk and recorded one strikeout in four innings to earn his second victory of the season. He entered the contest in the fourth inning with two on and no out and stranded the bases loaded while preserving Iona's lead. After allowing a walk to open the fifth, Bligh retired nine straight batters to end the contest.
