Iona College women's soccer head coach Mike Barroqueiro announced the addition of Taylor Wilson as an assistant coach for the 2012-13 season. Wilson is a 2012 graduate of Seton Hall University, where she obtained a degree in athletic training.
"I am excited to welcome Taylor to the Iona family," said Barroqueiro. "It was a thorough search process but I put together a list of must-haves and without a doubt, Taylor meets and exceeds each one."
In 2011, Wilson led Seton Hall with 14 points, tallying four goals and a team-high six assists and received All-Big East accolades for the first time. Wilson finished her career with five goals and 12 assists for 22 points. Her 12-career helpers rank fourth in school history and the sixth assists in 2011 are the fourth most for a Pirate in a single season.
Wilson tied for eighth in the Big East in assists and 10th in assists per game. She received a number of awards throughout the season including: Big East Honor Roll (Aug. 23), Big East Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 19) and the CollegeSoccer360.com and SoccerAmerica.com National Player of the Week (Sept. 20).
"Taylor has an incredible passion for the game and her positivity is infectious. Add that to her stellar playing career at the highest levels of women’s soccer and you have the makings of a wonderful young coach," added Barroqueiro. "We pride ourselves on always taking steps forward as a program and adding Taylor is another huge step in the right direction for us."
