STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Aleesha Powell, women’s basketball
Iona College women’s basketball freshman Aleesha Powell averaged 11.5 points per game in a pair of defeats to Colgate 75-50 and Fairfield 62-58 in the MAAC opener.
Against Colgate, Powell scored 12 points and picked off six passes, while shooting 40% from the field and 4-of-5 from the line.
In the MAAC opener, she tallied 11 points with four rebounds and four steals.
