PALO ALTO, CA - Iona College men's outdoor track graduate student Mitch Goose set a school record time in the 5,000-meter event at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford University.
Goose's time of 13:34.41 broke a six-year old school record by a quarter of a second. Former Gael standout Richard Kiplagat formerly held the record of 13:34.66 set at the Mt. SAC relays in 2006. Goose's teammate Leonard Korir ran the second fastest time (13:35.71) last year at the NCAA Championship.
Goose was the third collegiate and 12th overall finisher in the Section 1 5k event at Stanford.
