PRINCETON, NJ - Junior Chris Stogsdill finished second overall to lead the Iona College men's cross country team to a second place finish at the Princeton Invitational this morning. Stogsdill was one of two Gaels in the Top 10, completing the 8k course in a personal best time of 24:11.
Stogsdill shattered his previous 8k cross country personal best by nearly 45 seconds. His classmate, Jimmy Tarsnane finished eighth overall in 24:30. Red shirt freshman Otis Ubriaco was Iona's third finisher in 33rd place (24:55). The Gaels' final two scorers finished back-to-back as sophomores Michael Champagne and Quinn Raseman were 47th and 48th overall, both clocked at 25:04.
The Gaels finished third with 124 points behind Saint Joseph's (46) and Harvard (110). Haverford and UMBC rounded out the Top 5.
Championship season commences for the Maroon & Gold in their next meet as the program vies for its 22nd straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. The current streak of 21 is the longest current stretch in NCAA Division I. The 2012 MAAC Championship will be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL on Oct. 27.
