Women's Rowing Races at Head of the Housatonic

The varsity men and women competed this past weekend in Shelton, CT at the Head of the Housatonic.  In the women's collegiate 4+, the quartet of junior Jennifer Kearns, sophomore Amanda Kenny, freshman Mary Cain and sophomore Michelle Morrison, with sophomore Cara Scriven at coxswain, took 15th in the event with a time of 22:08.05.

The women's collegiate 8+ of Kearns, Kenny, senior Victoria Geiter, freshman Kathleen Conway, sophomore Ashley Tomblin, freshman Angela Sorensen, Cain and Morrison took eighth in their heat with a time of 20:25.1.

"We know coming into this race that the varsity women’s boats were going to face some of the strongest competition in the whole country," commented head coach Tom Scrifes.  "We are committed, now that we have a baseline on improving our fitness on the erg so that we can match these strong programs."

The Gaels are back in action this weekend at the Head of Charles in Boston, MA.
