IONA PLACES 124 ON 2006-07 MAAC ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL

EDISON, N.J.- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2006-07 Academic Honor Roll today, with Iona placing a school record 125 student-athletes on the list. It was the second highest total of all MAAC full-time and associate schools.

"We extremely pleased to have 124 of its student-athletes named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll," said Juliette Kenny, Assistant AD/Compliance. "This success demonstrates the commitment to the rigors of academics by Iona student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. Gael fans should be tremendously proud not only of their teams’ accomplishments in the athletic arena but in the academic sector as well.”

Highlighting the list from Iona were senior women's basketball standout Regan Pettijohn and sophomore golfer Sean Curtin who held perfect 4.0 GPA during their tenure at Iona College.

Water Polo/Swimmer Angela Kohlhoff, softball players Stacy Moyer and Amanda Glaser, Rower Melissa Van Gelder and soccer player Suzanne Baldissard hold the distinction of holding a GPA greater than 3.90.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 25 sports that the conference sponsors.
