EDISON, NJ - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2007-08 Academic Honor Roll today, with Iona placing a school record 130 student-athletes on the list. It was the second highest total of all MAAC full-time and associate schools and surpassed the previous mark of 124 from last year.

"We are once again very happy to be well represented on MAAC Academic Honor Roll," said William Olli, Assistant Director of Academics. "The commitment of our student-athletes as students first is demonstrated with a record 130 members named to the list. Iona fans should continue to be proud not only of their teams’ accomplishments on the field but also in the classroom."

Highlighting the list from Iona were senior men's cross country runner Anthony Vernaci and junior water polo standout Angela Kohlhoff who have posted a 4.00 and 3.98 GPA during their tenure at Iona College.

Softball senior Amanda Glaser and sophomore Laura Hackimer, cross country and track sophomore Samone Brocket and golf junior Sean Curtin hold the distinction of holding a GPA greater than 3.90.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 24 sports that the conference sponsors.
