Iona XCTF Volunteers At Paine to Pain

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - On Sunday, October 6, 2013 members of the Iona College men's and women's cross country and track and field teams volunteered at the Paine to Pain half marathon trail race in New Rochelle.

Members of the cross-country team arrived at the Iona gymnasium at 8:15 am where they received their assignments and were taken to various spots along the race course. Some of the roles of the volunteers included working water stops, directing runners, stopping traffic, and cheering runners and walkers.

A portion of the proceeds are used to maintain the leatherstocking trail which travels through multiple towns in Westchester county. The trail is utilized by a large quantity of walkers, runners, and bikers in the Westchester area.
