STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Mike Glover, Men's Basketball

Junior Mike Glover posted his 20th double-double of the season with a game-high 33 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Gaels to an 83-80 win over East Tennessee State in a Postseason Tournament semifinal matchup at MSHA Athletics Center.  Glover helped will the Gaels to victory in a traditionally tough environment to play in. The Buccaneers had lost just three of their last 46 non-conference games on their home floor. Glover shot 13-for-19 from the field and 7-for-10 from the charity stripe in the victory.

Last week, Glover was named to the Lou Henson All-American team, along with junior Scott Machado. Glover has posted 18.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game while being the lone Gael to start all 36 games thus far. The rebounding average marks the first time since 1980 that an Iona player averaged more than 10 rebounds per game (Jeff Ruland). Glover posted a team-best 20 double-doubles, a mark that ranks No. 6 in the NCAA. He also ranks sixth in the nation with his 61.0% field goal conversion rate.

Iona hosts Santa Clara on Wednesday (Mar. 30) at the Hynes Center in the Postseason Tournament Championship game. The two teams will tip-off at 8:00 pm in a game that will be televised on Fox College Sports.
