Di Domizio Tabbed Second Team; 16 Earn All-Academic
BUFFALO, NY - For the second time in as many years, junior defender Gabriella Di Domizio was named to the All-MAAC Second Team, as announced by the Conference Thursday night. In adition, a stellar 16 Gaels were named to the All-Academic team.
Di Domizio earns her second All-MAAC honor after posting another standout defensive season for the Maroon & Gold. The 2017 campaign saw the Lansdale, PA native collect 25 ground balls cause 25 turnovers. Her 1.47 caused turnovers per game ranked seventh in the MAAC. For her career, the junior ranks first all-time with 1.44 caused turnovers per game and sits just three caused turnovers away from being the program leader.
Earlier in the evening, the All-Academic teams were announced, and an outstanding 16 members of Maroon & Gold made the list. Topping last year's total of 14, Iona tied for second-most in the MAAC this season. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Sophomores Katie Beyer, Kathryn Flannigan, Shannon McCaffrey, and Libby Miller, juniors Tori Anderson, Kaitlyn Becker, Di Domizio, Caleigh Gunn, Emma Hager, and Carley Pellechia, and seniors Grace Celona, Zoe Mazzulli, Katelyn Noschese, Erin Pugh, Brianne Towey, and Kristian Wasdick represented Iona.
