SWARTHMORE, PA - The Iona College track & field program concluded its weekend this evening at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier with individuals competing throughout the two 1,500 meter races.
Starting with the women's race, Gemma Nuttall put forth a personal best time of 4:29.88 to finish in third place and lead four finishers for the Gaels. Nuttall's personal best was nearly five seconds better than her previous record of 4:34.80 set at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
Also finishing within the top ten was Nuttall's classmate Kailtyn Ohrtman. The freshman fell just shy of her own personal best with a 4:33.27 clocking to finish in seventh place. Meanwhile, Natalie Holder and Julia Kearley finished back-to-back at 15th and 16th within a second of each other. Holder led with a personal best of 4:38.37, ahead of a 4:38.63 time from Kearley.
Chartt Miller led the men's team with a fifth place showing in the 1,500 meter behind a recorded time of 3:43.53, more than 10 second faster than his winning time of 3:53.94 at the MAAC Championships last weekend.
Johannes Motschmann tallied a 13th place, personal best time of 3:47.81 while Kieran Clements also recorded a personal record of 3:48.06 to land in 15th place. Another personal best was established by Gilbert Kirui in the race, running a 3:51.26 time for 21st place.
