NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Jordan Scarlett of the Iona College men’s soccer program has been drafted by the New York Red Bulls with the 61st overall pick in the third round of the Major League Soccer Super Draft.

Scarlett was invited to the Red Bulls collegiate combine which was held at the club’s training facility in Whippany, NJ back on Dec. 16-17.
While with the Maroon & Gold, Scarlett made an immediate impact since setting foot on campus as a rookie. He appeared in 18 games as a freshman, making nine starts. His consistency on the Gaels backline continued throughout his career, finishing his Iona career with 54 games played, and seven total points. Scarlett had a career-high five assists as a junior.
This past year, Scarlett was named to the All-MAAC First Team, following up an All-MAAC Second Team selection in his junior year. Off the field, Scarlett was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team his sophomore, junior and senior years.

Scarlett is the first player to be drafted into the MLS since midfielder Ignacio Maganto was selected with the final pick of the first round by the LA Galaxy back in 2015. Joining Monmouth goalkeeper Eric Klenofsky, who was drafted in the second round yesterday, Scarlett is the 12th player in league history to be drafted.
