NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona College volleyball dropped a heartbreaker in five sets (23-25, 27-25, 25-21, 23-25, 6-15) to Niagara on Sunday afternoon. The contest was the season-finale, and prior to the start, head coach Patric Santiago and the team honored the program’s lone senior Karly White for her outstanding Gael career.
Sophomore Claire Archibald recorded her 11th double-double season with 12 kills and 24 digs. Sophomore Amanda Gannon hit .211 while collecting 14 kills. She added in seven digs, two block assists, and one service reception. White had 12 kills on thirty chances in her final collegiate game.
Sophomore Jessica Paolucci had a game-high 28 digs. Sophomore Emma Rose contributed 41 assists in the loss. The Gaels hits 0.090 percent for the match, recording a match-high 0.179 in the third set.
White finishes her career ranked third all-time in block assists (246), fifth in total blocks (297), and ninth in both solo blocks (51) and blocks per set (0.80). As a sophomore in 2014, she set the sixth highest single-season total with 97 block assists, and seventh highest total blocks accumulation with 111.
White ranks 21st all-time with 668 career kills, and her 1675 block assists and .249 hitting percentage both rank top-25 all-time.
Iona ends the season with a 7-24 (5-13 MAAC) record.
