NEW ROCHELLE, NY - A basket by Marist's Erica Allenspach with 1.8 seconds left in overtime proved to be the difference as the Iona College women's basketball team came up just short in an 82-80 loss to the Red Foxes.  Senior center Anna McLean scored her 1,000th career point in the first half to become only the third player in the program's history to record over 1,000 points and 850 rebounds.

Thazina Cook was Iona's leading scorer in the contest with 21 points and added six boards, one assist, and one steal.  Kristina Ford had 13 points at halftime and ended the night with 20, playing just 23 minutes due to foul trouble.  McLean finished with 14 points and matched Ford with a team-best seven rebounds.  Suzi Fregosi dealt a game-high six assists.

Marist's Rachele Fitz led all players with 28 points while the Red Foxes outrebounded Iona 41-31.  The Maroon & Gold shot 50.0% from the field compared to 45.1% by Marist.

The Gaels host Rider in the 2009-10 regular season finale on Feb. 28.  Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
