BUFFALO, NY – The Iona college men’s and women’s swimming & diving team stood pat in the standings on day two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship. The highlight for the Gaels was junior Elizabeth Kaczmarek securing gold in the 200-IM with a winning time of 2:07.22.
In the 500-Freestyle, Sophomore Maria DiBella finished in third place touching the wall in 5:07.25; DiBella’s time is a new school record. In the same event, junior Kaitlyn Mahon finished eighth in 5:11.00.
At the conclusion of day two, the women’s program remains in fourth with 189 points. They trail the leader of the pack Marist by 90 points. The men’s program is in sixth place with 137 points, 126 points less than the leader in the clubhouse, Rider.
The Maroon & Gold return to the pool tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM.
