COLLEGE STATION, TX – Qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Texas A&M with a mile time of 3:58.19, Liam Dee advanced to the Championship Finals on Saturday by placing eighth in the preliminary race this evening.
Dee recorded a time of 4:00.72 in the second heat of the two-heat event tonight that started at 6:45 pm ET. The clocking placed him eighth out of the 16 individuals to be part of the top-10 runners to advance to Saturday’s Championship Final.
Edward Cheserek earned the top time in the preliminary with a time of 3:59.30, edging out teammate Matthew Maton (3:59.73). The top five runners were separated be less than a second on the watch. A tie for 10th and 11th between Thomas Joyce of California and Jonah Koech of UTEP were separated by .007 of a second at 4:01.012 and 4:01.019 with Koech falling short of the finals.
The championship race is scheduled for a 5:10 pm ET time start tomorrow afternoon and can be watched live on ESPN3.
