COLLEGE STATION, TX - On Friday evening, Liam Dee earned placement into Saturday's NCAA Championship Finals in the mile by running a 4:00.72 time for eighth place in the preliminary race. The junior now advances to Saturday's final, scheduled for 5:10 pm ET/4:10 pm CT.
Dee finished eighth out of the 16 individuals to be part of the top-10 runners to advance to Saturday’s Championship Final.
Edward Cheserek earned the top time in the preliminary with a time of 3:59.30, edging out teammate Matthew Maton (3:59.73). The top five runners were separated be less than a second on the watch. A tie for 10th and 11th between Thomas Joyce of California and Jonah Koech of UTEP were separated by .007 of a second at 4:01.012 and 4:01.019 with Koech falling short of the finals.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live starting at 4:55 p.m. ET. A re-air of the championship will take place on Sunday, March 12 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
