RIVERDALE, NY - Freshman Daniel Lipus led the Iona College men's cross country team to a dual meet victory over Manhattan.  Lipus finished first overall with a time 15:44 in the 5.1k race.

Lipus out lasted Manhattan's Milos Vuckovic for the title.  After running neck-and-neck with the Jasper junior through the first lap around the Van Cortlandt Park course, Lipus pulled away in the back hills and the final straight away for the three-second victory.   Senior Dan Wallace-Periac was third overall in 16:21 while sophomore Jared Welsh was fourth (16:32).  Junior Tim Leonard was the final team scorer finishing seventh overall.

The dual meet served as a tuneup for the MAAC Championship for both squads.   This year's event takes place at the World Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL on Nov. 1.
