West Windsor, NJ – The Iona College women's varsity eight boat placed fifth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships Friday morning. The Gaels raced three boats in the contest placing eighth overall.
The Varsity 4 boat, consisting of coxswain Elise Tarrant and followed by Emily Solomos, Margaret Baik, Adrianna Solhjoo, and Allison Kaufamn finished fourth and did not qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in 09:20.099.
The first Varsity 8 boat, made up of Coxswain Madison Kirch, Alexandra Arluna, Willow Held-Pistone, Reise Manchester, Brittany Quirino, Lindsay Lee, Bailey Kross, Alessandra Danyo, and Kate Tagliareni placed fifth with a time of 09:07.364. The boat did not qualify for the Grand Final.
The second Varsity 8 boat finished in second place in the opening heat in 08:06.376. The boat included Coxswain Samantha Rambush, Daylin Salas, Luka Summers, Olivia Ayer, Serena Yanitelli, Delia Fernandez, Natalie Jimenez, Julianna LoRusso and Christina Lamiroult. In the Grand final, the boat finished fifth in 07:53.814.
Jacksonville University captured it's fourth consecutive MAAC title, followed by Marist and Canisius to round out the top three.
