NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College women’s swimming & diving program volunteered for the Midnight Run service project on the night of Thursday, Feb. 23.  The student-athletes met at the Montgomery house where they organized clothing and prepared bagged lunches to bring into the city. The team then traveled to the city where they made three stops to hand out clothing and food to those in need of them.

Not only did the athletes provide material items to many homeless people in New York City, but they also provided them with conversation and compassion. Freshman Anna Desiderio commented, “Every time I volunteer for Midnight Run, I am always amazed by how loving, genuinely sweet, and thankful the people we serve are. Despite their situation, they are some of the happiest and most content people I have ever met.”

The Iona College mission and ministry program hosts the Midnight Run service project once a month. It is a great experience and a very enjoyable community service project.
