NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Over the course of Saturday Mar. 4 and Sunday Mar. 5, the Iona College Women’s Soccer program helped the New Rochelle soccer league run a local tournament, The Manhattan Kickoff.

The Gaels who volunteered their time as field marshals, which consisted of overseeing two separate cites, Iona College and City Park, where the tournament was being played at.  At the two sites, the ladies reported the scores of each game on paper and through an associated app.

Tournament participants and their parents were welcomed by the member of the Maroon & Gold with smiles and enthusiasm.  The student-athletes answered a variety of questions, spanning from driving directions to expanding on the collegiate soccer experience.

The Iona women’s soccer team are adamant in exclaiming the good experience volunteering; everyone felt like they were able to better the experience for younger players also looking to play soccer in college.
