Iona SAAC Announces 2017-18 Executive Board
NEW ROCHELLE, NY – On Monday, Apr. 10, the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) announced the 2017-18 executive board members.
Junior softball student-athlete Courtney Miller has been named the 2017-18 President of SAAC. She has been involved with the group since her freshman year and is looking forward to taking the helm of the organization and continuing the recent softball program trend.
“I'm honored to be taking on a leadership position in SAAC not only to continue the tradition they have started but to also encourage its growth and development,” said Miller. “I am hoping to make SAAC an even more welcoming, inclusive environment that will unite even more student-athletes in our community to truly reap all the benefits in our experience here at Iona.”
Newton is excited for the possible continued growth of the organization she has led for the last calendar year.
“Over the last few years, SAAC has really grown in interest and in what we are able to do for the school,” Newton commented. “The athletics department as a whole has been able to contribute much more to the community and help change New Rochelle and Westchester for the better.”
Newton continued, “There are two returners, Jess and Fran, as well as three new comers, Courtney, Emma and Sydney that are all excited and eager to continue the growth of the committee. I know that they will all continue to represent the school with pride and strive toward continued excellence.”
Junior Emma Rose of the volleyball program will take the helm of Vice President, and teammate junior Jessica Paolucci will serve as the social media chair for the second consecutive year. Junior Fran Kinsey of the baseball team takes the Community Service Chair while junior swimming & diving student-athlete Sydney Thompson will serve as the Secretary.
