ELLINGTON, CT - The Iona College golf team finished play at the Connecticut Cup Tuesday morning, shooting a team score of 300 in the final round. Combined with the team's day one score, the Gaels finished tied for sixth with a three round score of 895 (+31). Sacred Heart, leaders after each round, took first with a final score of 882 (+18).
The Gaels' top finisher was junior Doug Hoppe, who shot a 71 in the final round to finish tied for 10th with a four-over 220. One stroke behind Hoppe was junior Dylan Newman, who finished 14th after shooting a 72 in the final round to finish with a five-over 221. Junior Scott Gallo shot a 78 in round three to finish tied for 40th with a 14-over 230. Sophomore Jordan Kral shot 84 in round three, finishing tied for 45th with a 15-over 231. Junior Andrew Graham shot a 77 in round three to finish tied for 62nd with a 20-over 236.
The Gaels are back in action this weekend when they travel to Bedminster, NJ for the Lincoln Intercollegiate.
