TRAINING GOALS

INJURY PREVENTION
Our main goal is to develop programs that will minimize the injuries seen most in each sport.  The exercises, repetitions and intensity will change throughout the year to best prepare athletes to excel in their sport, and finish the season strong.

MAXIMIZING ATHLETIC POTENTIAL
Each athlete will be pushed to the level that will best enhance their athletic performance.  Everyday is an opportunity for us to improve, and we attack each training session that way.  Whether it is getting 1 more pound on the bar, 1 more repetition on a set, a faster running time, or an extra inch on their jump, we will not be satisfied with yesterdays triumph’s because today is an opportunity to be even better.

STRONG MENTALITY
Iona Gael athletes will be tested on a daily basis through hard training and an intense atmosphere.  It is each athlete's responsibility to give their best effort on a consistent basis, everyday.  Athletes are also held accountable for their teammates, and our atmosphere is one that fosters great teamwork and relying on each other.  This is important because no matter their role, every team member will have an impact on the team’s success.  Our athletes are trained to overcome adversity, get locked into the task at hand, and prevail over any obstacle in their way.  These are characteristics that will help our student athletes in the weight room, athletic arena, and in their daily lives.
