BUFFALO WILD WING STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Mitch Goose, Men’s Indoor Track & Field
Iona College men's indoor track and field graduate student Mitch Goose was named Buffalo Wild Wings Student-Athlete of the Week after a record breaking performance at the 2012 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Goose highlighted the event, running the second fastest and second-ever sub-four minute mile in school history. He was named the meet's Most Outstanding Track Performer for his effort.
Goose ran a 3:59.26 mile, topping former Gael great Richard Kiplagat's MAAC Championship record 4:02.58 set in 2005. He was more than 12 seconds faster than teammate Daniel Lipus (4:11.67), the race runner up. Earning third place for Iona was junior Chris Stogsdill (4:12.23) who nipped Rider's Mike Soroko by one-hundredth of a second. Freshman Otis Ubriaco and junior Jimmy Tarsnane were seventh and ninth overall. While Goose erased Kiplagat's MAAC record, the former Iona standout still holds the school record with his 3:57.40 mile at the 2006 Gotham Cup at the Armory.
