NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College lacrosse team returned home after a three-game road trip and faced a tough and determined Stony Brook squad, falling to the Seawolves 18-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Mazzella Field.
Iona scored the first game of the contest ad Gregory found the back of the net 46 seconds into play. Stony Brook (7-3) scored the next 10 consecutive goals, five of which came in the final 1:31 and took a 10-1 lead into the half.
Scully’s tally in the second half made it an 11-2 contest and then Gregory scored cutting the deficit to 14-3. Testoni and Scully scored the final two goals of the game for Iona with two minutes remaining.
Claire Petersen led Stony Brook with seven points on two goals and five asissts. Demmianne Cook had a game-high five goals and an assist. Hannah Perruccio made three saves for the win.
Iona will take on Columbia on Friday evening in New York City at 7 p.m.
