Now in his 29th year at Iona College, Sam De Rosa continues to serve as Iona's head athletic trainer, a position he has held since the 1999.
He began working in the Sports Medicine Department in 1984 as a part-time assistant to Iona College long time head athletic trainer J.B Buono. In 1993, De Rosa served as trainer for the Westchester Stallions of the United States Basketball League, in addition to his duties with the Gaels. He also worked as the trainer for the Senior Tennis Association in the summer of 1994. He was promoted to his current position in 1999 before earning his master's degree in Health Care Administration from Iona in 2000.
De Rosa is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. Under his watch, the Iona Sports Medicine Department has served as training facility to many future physical therapists and certified athletic trainers.
A native of New Rochelle, NY, De Rosa now resides in Yorktown Heights. He has two children, Samantha, age 20, and Joe, age 17.
