Now in his 23rd year at Iona College, Sam Derosa continues to serve as Iona's Head Athletic Trainer, a position he has held since the 1999-2000 year.
Derosa earned a degree in Computer Science from Iona in 1987. He began working in the Sports Medicine Department in 1984 as a part-time assistant. In 1993, Derosa served as trainer for the Westchester Stallions of the United States Basketball League, in addition to his duties with the Gaels. He also worked as the trainer for the Senior Tennis Association in the summer of 1994. He was promoted to his current position in 1999 before earning his master?s degree in Health Care Administration from Iona in 2000.
Derosa is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. Under his watch, the Iona Sports Medicine Department has served as training facility to many future physical therapists and athletic trainers.
A native of New Rochelle, NY, Derosa now resides in Yorktown. He has two children, Samantha, age 12, and Joe, age 9.
